About Gill Heppell

Gill Heppell is the founder and Managing Director of PerCurra Ltd. The company started trading in South Nottinghamshire in

January 2008. Gill’s vision was to create a ‘gold-standard’ company, consistently delivering an exceptional level of

domiciliary care by well trained and supported teams.

Before founding PerCurra, Gill recognised the care sector was on the brink of major change. Clients themselves would be

given the opportunity to choose their own care providers. The Direct Payment and Personal Budget funding method has

since been rolled out across Britain; giving people choice and control regarding their care services.

The PerCurra business model was created to capitalise on the fact that the person in receipt of care (or a close family

member/advocate) could decide which provider to use.

In developing the business, Gill has drawn on her vast experience in nursing, medical compliance and running national nurse

teams within the pharmaceutical industry. She also carried out in-depth research into the needs of the care at home

market. Gill found that people want an excellent standard of care; delivered at times to suit them, by care staff they trust.

She passionately believes people deserve to receive excellent care and support that is flexible to their needs.

During the past ten years Gill has represented social care and health on the N2 Skills & Employment Board (N2SEB) which

aimed to improve the skills and employment opportunities of people across Nottinghamshire. In 2012 Gill took part in a

Westminster Health Forum discussing Personal Health Budgets which covered implementation, efficiency and user

experience. PerCurra was a Personal Health Budget pilot organisation.

The company has won multiple awards and recognition from the business world and the care industry.

Gill is now expanding PerCurra across the UK by offering PerCurra franchises that replicate her successful formula. As a franchisor, Gill has taken on the role of business coach, supporting and nurturing PerCurra franchisees as they build their business. Her knowledge of the care industry and the fact that she personally understands what is involved in building a thriving home care business make her a valuable mentor. PerCurra franchising is growing across the UK and all current franchisees have been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission.
